Hello again honeybees! As you can discern by the title of this post, my month was pretty bad. There were two deaths in my family ontop of a bunch of other things I rather not get into. Some highlights: I moved out of my apartment, read good books, and drank Starbucks nearly everyday lol.
Wild Tongues Can’t Be Tamed edited by Saraciea J. Fennell
This was such a wonderful anthology full of personal stories about identity and how the authors relate to Latinidad. Seeing so many different versions of a Latine/x person and how they either grew into who the person they are through their experiences with the community and culture. I’m usually not a fan of anthologies but this one was great.
You Had Me At Hola by Alexis Daria
THE FEELINGS I HAVE FOR THIS BOOK. I adored every second I spent reading You Had Me At Hola. I would die for Ashton and Yadiel. This is your sign to read it if you haven’t already.
An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
I was so afraid that I wouldn’t like AEITA because it’s one of the most hyped fantasy series out there (and somehow not hyped enough at the same time) but I ended up LOVING IT. It’s been so long since a fantasy pulled me in right from the first page and kept me throughout the entire book and wow. Just wow. Can’t wait to continue the series even though I’m not very invested in the plot because I’m SO invested in these characters.
Faker by Sarah Smith
I don’t like to bash books on my blog because people put their hard work and energy into them, so I’ll keep this brief. Faker by Sarah Smith was incredibly disappointing and at points, downright bad. If you can look pass elementary writing and glorification of whiteness, there’s a cute love story there. I can’t look passed these things, and frankly, I don’t want to know anyone who can.
How was your month? Which books did you read? Did you find any new favorites? I’d love to chat with you!
