Hello again honeybees! I can’t believe how crazy fast June passed by. But I’m kind of excited because I usually read a lot in July for some odd reason and there’s so many books I need to get to!
Pride Month is always my favorite month and while it wasn’t the same and I still haven’t been to my first pride, I enjoyed seeing all the flags and love for this community! That being said, I read mostly LGBTQ+ books but didn’t get to finish them all because reading slump. I also had surgery which was super fun. More on that later.
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
Omg this was so good. I’m not too sure if this is the first sapphic novel I’ve read (I know, I’m horrible) but it’s one of my favorites now. The writing was great, the characters were so real and fun, the plot was unique and engaging, and Jane Su is everything I’ve ever wished for *starts sweating*.
I don’t typically binge books but I finished this in less than 24 hours and almost cried at work because of how invested I was in all of the characters’ lives. It was the perfect balance of contemporary, mystery, and paranormal and I am so here for it. Highly recommend.
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
I really loved this one as well. I read it in a few hours during my shift and oh wow did I just adore it. I’ve been into manifesting for about a year now. It’s the only way I was able to pull myself out of a really bad depression, get an apartment, and two jobs. This book had me recommending it to everyone before I was even done with it and I wanted to reread it over again as soon as I finished. Again, highly recommend. This is the main source that people always refer to when talking about manifestation so if you’re even remotely interested, I recommend starting with this book.
- I cut my hair shorter than it’s ever been and gave myself bangs! Lol I haven’t spoken much about my mental breakdown haircut because my bangs bother me but yeah, it’s kind of cute.
- I was diagnosed with endometriosis. This one is fairly recent. I just had my surgery on June 28th and after 8 years of endo being suspected by my doctors, I finally got a definitive diagnosis. Currently in a good deal of pain but it was worth it to get some answers.
- I started reading Girls Of Paper and Fire and it’s so good! I need to talk about this somewhere because even though I’ve been reading this book for over a month, I haven’t gotten to talk about how good this book is. Mi novio likes it too and he never reads! I’ve been taking this one nice and slow because I’ve been reading it with him, but I’lll definitely be done with it in early July.
This month was just a lot for me emotionally and physically. I had plenty of opportunities to read but just didn’t. I did love the two books that I managed to finish, and read a few books in between that were either DNFs or just haven’t been completed yet.
Unfortunately my pride month wasn’t very special or positive but let’s just look forward to a better summer.
