Book Haul: New Additions to My Kindle Library! | ARCs + Ebook Deals

Hello again honeybees! This is kind of a spontaneous post because I’ve acquired a few ebooks in the past week/two weeks! I don’t normally do posts like these but I love reading and watching book hauls so I thought I’d share my own.

Disclaimer: I’m not trying to brag in any way. I just want to share my excitement for these books and hopefully put you on to some new reads and deals!

E-books Acquired Via Kindle Deals

*These deals are active in the US as of publication of this post.*

Woven In Moonlight by Isabel Ibañez

Money spent: $2.99 (Promotion ends 5/25 in the US)

Shortened synopsis:

Ximena is the decoy Condesa, a stand-in for the last remaining Illustrian royal. Her people lost everything when the usurper, Atoc, used an ancient relic to summon ghosts and drive the Illustrians from La Ciudad. Now Ximena’s motivated by her insatiable thirst for revenge, and her rare ability to spin thread from moonlight.

When Atoc demands the real Condesa’s hand in marriage, it’s Ximena’s duty to go in her stead. She relishes the chance, as Illustrian spies have reported that Atoc’s no longer carrying his deadly relic.

She hunts for the relic, but when a masked vigilante, a warm-hearted princesa, and a thoughtful healer challenge Ximena, her mission becomes more complicated. There could be a way to overthrow the usurper without starting another war, but only if Ximena turns her back on revenge—and her Condesa.

This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year and I’m so happy I managed to finally buy it! I still want a physical copy, but I don’t have much space for them at the moment so I’ll hold off until I unhaul a few books. This sounds phenomenal and I cannot wait to dive into this imaginative fantasy!

Marrow by Alex Blythe

Money spent: free (Free on kindle unlimited and free for kindle for a limited time in the UK and US)

Synopsis: (Full because it’s small)

Latham is The Head Hunter’s son. Marrow is his home. A peaceful settlement, or so it appears on the surface, however deep underneath its foundation, runs a river of lies.

Lies turn to ‘the rot’, a malignant energy that seeps into the soul.

With Marrow vulnerable to the dark energy holding sway over their community, can Latham unravel the buried secrets of the past before the rot sets in?

The author emailed me this morning and mentioned they have a book launch campaign going on where their book is on free to download for five days, but I’m not sure when the campaign started. This one seemed like a unique fantasy and I figured I’d read and review it to help a newly released book. Every review helps, as we all know by now.

E-books Acquired Via Netgalley

Ignite the Sun by Hanna Howard

Publication Date: August 18, 2020 by Blink

Downloaded without requesting

Shortened synopsis:

Once upon a time, there was something called the sun…

Sixteen year-old Siria Nightingale has never seen the sun. The light is dangerous, according to Queen Iyzabel, an evil witch who has shrouded the kingdom in shadow.

But what Siria discovers at the Choosing Ball will send her on a quest that could bring back the Light—or doom the kingdom to shadow forever. Accompanied by a ragtag group of rebels, she sets her course for the North, toward the last vestiges of the sun.

This is my current read and I’m not enjoying it half as much as I thought I would. But I’m nearing the 50% mark so maybe the last half will be better, since the first 10% was actually really good and gripping. It’s just painfully slow at this point because I don’t connect to any of the characters and find the MC quite annoying and cookie cutter.

Sia Martinez and the Moonlit Beginning of Everything by Rachel Vasquez Gilliland

Publication Date: August 11, 2020 by Simon Pulse

Requested from publisher and (magically) got accepted

Full synopsis: (every detail is important)

Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe meets Roswell by way of Laurie Halse Anderson in this astonishing, genre-bending novel about a Mexican American teen who discovers profound connections between immigration, folklore, and alien life.

It’s been three years since ICE raids and phone calls from Mexico and an ill-fated walk across the Sonoran. Three years since Sia Martinez’s mom disappeared. Sia wants to move on, but it’s hard in her tiny Arizona town where people refer to her mom’s deportation as “an unfortunate incident.”

Sia knows that her mom must be dead, but every new moon Sia drives into the desert and lights San Anthony and la Guadalupe candles to guide her mom home.

Then one night, under a million stars, Sia’s life and the world as we know it cracks wide open. Because a blue-lit spacecraft crashes in front of Sia’s car…and it’s carrying her mom, who’s very much alive.

As Sia races to save her mom from armed-quite-possibly-alien soldiers, she uncovers secrets as profound as they are dangerous in this stunning and inventive exploration of first love, family, immigration, and our vast, limitless universe.

If you know me, you know I love Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. I recommend it multiple times a day. My first thought was “hey, Martinez!” (my last name) and my second thought (after reading the synopsis) was “I NEED THIS RIGHT NOW!” So I’m pumped I got approved and I cannot wait to finish my current read and start this one. Doesn’t it just sound SO cool?!

This was more work than I anticipated but I was fun to put together! I hope you guys enjoyed this! Please do let me know if you add any of these to your TBR!

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post. Please consider following for more posts like this! You can also find me on Instagram, Twitter, and Goodreads. Thanks again for reading! Bye for now honeybees.

I was really enjoying Ignite The Sun in the beginning but I couldn’t click with the characters at all. Hopefully everyone else has a different experience, because it seems like everyone is excited to read this one 🙈 I hope you enjoy it if you read it 💛
