Hello again honeybees! I was tempted to just jump into the books and not acknowledge anything that’s happening in my life, but I’m always open with you all and I am a firm supporter in the truth that it is okay to not be okay. And, dear reader of my blog, I’m not okay. But I will be. I’ve been really depressed these past weeks and I feel like I’m starting to shake a bit of it recently, but I wanted to explain why I haven’t been uploading so much on here. Online school is taking a lot out of me and this bout of depression and anxiety is worse than I’ve had in awhile, so I’m just getting through it.
I promise I’ll be okay. I recently opened up about this struggle on Instagram and I got a ton of really supportive messages (which were beautiful and made my heart want to burst from love) but this is about books, so let’s get on with it yeah?

Books Read

Little Universes by Heather Demetrios
4/5 ★★★★
I buddy read this book with my friend Belle @ Belle’s Archive for a fun little release activity put on by one of the publicists at Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. I have a short review up on Goodreads and I’ll be posting my full review here soon.

The Faerie Guardian by Rachel Morgan
2/5 ★★
This was a quick and really cringe read. It was predictable at first and then got weird. I thought the plot twists were going to lead to this really well crafted book but it just didn’t get there.

Magic by Midnight by Allison S. Bass
3.5/5 ★★★½
I was on the MTMC Tour for this one and I surprisingly enjoyed it. This Cinderella retelling was so fun and magical! And the cover was gorgeous. You can read my full review for this here.
Why did all my review copy reads turn out better than my “for pleasure” reads? A little curious since that’s never happened before but you know, I’m not complaining.
The thing about these three is that I read them all very quickly, finished them each in two day periods. I don’t normally finish books so quickly but I’m thinking that this is just my average reading time when I’m not loaded with schoolwork, which makes me very optimistic for my future reading goals when I’m out of school.
I meant to finish more books this month but who can predict depression? I’ll try to tackle my reading challenge another month.

You have no idea how many almost-finished drafts I have waiting for a good day. May is not ready for my blogging but I hope you’ll stay tuned to see all of these posts that I’ve been working really hard on!

Well that’s April. I’m so happy it’s over. To say the last half was horrible would be an understatement but I’m excited to get that new month motivation. Do you feel more motivated at the beginning of the month? What did you read in April? How was your month overall? How are you?
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post. Please consider following for more posts like this! You can also find me on Instagram, Twitter, and Goodreads. Thanks again for reading! Bye for now honeybees.

Wow you read so much books 🙂 I’m glad that you are enjoying reading your review copies more than your “for pleasure” books. 🙂 I have yet to read the books that you listed here, but I’ll check them out. April was a long month for me, largely because it was spent indoors and some days felt slow and dragging. It’s a difficult month for all of us, so I hope May brings better promises. I hope you have a great month in May 🙂
