What I’m Currently Reading | Blogmas Day 10

Hello again honeybees! I just had a discussion on Instagram about reading multiple books, which I do often. I’m in the middle of eight books at the time of writing this. Some might scream “How?!” while others may groan “same.” I’m with you on both ends of the spectrum.

So without further ado, here are my current reads:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

Date started: December 9th, 2018

I’m making progress through the series! This is a reread so nothing super special. I’m currently 5% through this beast of a book and I love HP so much. Definitely the right choice to read during midterms.

Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire

Date started: December 8, 2018

I began this audiobook on the way to San Francisco on Saturday. I got through a good portion during the three hour drive but it took some time to get into it. I’m not sure when I’ll continue it but I know it’ll be a quick and interesting read.

The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury

Date started: October 24th, 2018

I’m listening to the audiobook for this one and I really loved it! The narrator has a really beautiful Scottish voice and the MC is basically Merida, plus the lethal touch aspect is very similar to Shatter Me but, in my opinion, was handled a lot better.

That being said, I suddenly lost interest in it for no apparent reason. It feels like I’m getting into a slump although I’m reading fairly more than usual.

History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera

Date started: October 5th, 2018

Okay so I kind of have a good reason for this but is there really an acceptable excuse for putting down an Adam Silvera book? This book is depressing as hell and I jumped into it not being totally prepared for the amount of sadness that this beautiful book holds. I loved it, truly, and I will pick it up and give it the proper respect that it so totally deserves. But after a tough year, I need to get myself in order before I put my heart through the grinder like this.

“It’s not you, it’s me.”

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Date started: September 30, 2018

This is a reread and I was supposed to be budding reading it with Living In Libros but she finished it and I abandoned it. As of writing this I’m on chapter 4 and I have nothing to say for myself except I want to read all the books to the point where rereads becomes a bit useless? I don’t know but I’ll figure it out.

What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

Date started: October 11th, 2018

Also known as, my most anticipated release of the year/the book I’ve been waiting for forever/the cutest book ever/A MASTERPIECE. So I’m beating myself up about this a lot but the real reason I stopped halfway through this gorgeous book was because someone spoiled the ending. My life is over, my dreams are crushed, and I want to curl up in my bed and cry.

But the show must go on. I fully intend to finish this book, listen to the audiobook, post a review on every platform I can find, and read it again. In that order.

Armada by Ernest Cline

Date started: September 1st, 2018

Okay so I listened to the audiobook for Ready Player One by the same author and narrated by Wil Wheaton and I loved it! So when I heard about Armada, which involved video games, conspiracy theories, and was narrated by Wil Wheaton, I was all for it!

I borrowed the audiobook via Libby (a branch of Overdrive) and got 15% through. Then I had to return it. I waited for my hold to become available, which it did after a month, but then I found that I had no interest in the story anymore. I’m hoping to pick this back up again when my hold becomes available again. Until then, it sits on the metaphorical shelf.

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me #2)

Date started: August 12th, 2018 *facepalms*

So what had happened was…

Okay this pretty much follows the lines of the last few. I was reading it, suddenly lost interest, I don’t know if I’ll ever pick it back up again. I mildly enjoyed Shatter Me and I was hoping to keep reading to understand everyone’s obsession with Warner, but I just don’t know if that’s going to happen.

Burning Questions:

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books?

Bye for now honeybees.

Love, Destiny

Lovely post! The Sin Eater’s Daughter sounds interesting and the audiobook sounds so good, I love when the narrators have beautiful accents. I’m currently reading The Shadow Queen and Three Dark Crows and really enjoying both!
